# XPROJ: Xcademia Project Management Practitioner

> The XPROJ Certification Programme is the practitioner standard for project managers who apply structured methodology across complex projects, integrating PRINCE2 7th Edition (September 2023) principles and practices with PMI performance domains, Agile and hybrid delivery approaches, and UK public sector governance standards. Assessed on Day 5 through a supervised project scenario requiring methodology application across all domains. No open-book MCQ exam.

## Overview

PRINCE2 7 Practitioner and PMP are the two most recognised project management certifications globally. PRINCE2 is mandatory for UK public sector projects. PMP is required by many US and global enterprises. Both are exam-based. The PRINCE2 7 Practitioner exam is a 2.5-hour open-book test of 70 scenario questions. PMP is a 230-question adaptive exam across three domains. Neither measures whether a project manager can actually run a project. XPROJ is built for project managers who want to demonstrate they can lead projects, not just answer questions about them.

Across five instructor-led days, XPROJ covers the complete practitioner-level project management body of knowledge: PRINCE2 7th Edition (September 2023) across all five integrated elements including the new People dimension, Sustainability integration, and Digital and data management additions; PMI PMBOK 7th Edition twelve principles and eight performance domains; Agile and hybrid delivery approaches; benefits realisation management; stakeholder management; risk management; and UK IPA project delivery standards. Every session connects methodology to real project scenarios.

On Day 5, participants are presented with a complex project scenario and must develop a project initiation package, risk register, stakeholder engagement plan, and governance framework applying methodology from across the programme. A senior project management practitioner assesses quality of planning, risk thinking, and governance design. XPROJ certificate and Practitioner Assessment Report issued together.

## Frequently asked questions

**Q1: How does XPROJ compare to PRINCE2 7 Practitioner?**

PRINCE2 7 Practitioner is a 2.5-hour open-book exam of 70 scenario questions. XPROJ is 5 instructor-led days covering PRINCE2 7, PMI PMBOK 7, Agile hybrid, benefits realisation, and public sector governance, assessed on Day 5 through a comprehensive project recovery scenario where participants produce actual project documentation. XPROJ is broader than PRINCE2 alone.

**Q2: Does XPROJ cover the September 2023 PRINCE2 7 updates?**

Yes. XPROJ fully incorporates the September 2023 PRINCE2 7th Edition changes: the People dimension, Sustainability integration in the Business Case, Digital and data management additions, the renaming of Themes to Practices, the Issues practice absorbing the Change theme, and the five integrated elements framework.

**Q3: Does XPROJ prepare participants for formal PRINCE2 or PMP examinations?**

Yes. XPROJ content supports preparation for both PRINCE2 7 Practitioner and PMP examinations. Participants who complete XPROJ are well-positioned to sit either exam. The programme does not replace formal examination for roles where it is contractually required, but provides the applied understanding that makes formal examination significantly more achievable.

**Q4: Is XPROJ relevant for UK government project managers?**

Yes. Day 5 covers UK IPA project delivery standards, PRINCE2 mandatory application in UK government, the Government Project Delivery Framework, NHS project governance, Cabinet Office digital spend controls, and the IPA Project Delivery Capability Framework. UK public sector project managers find XPROJ directly applicable to their working context.

**Q5: What career paths does XPROJ support?**

Project Manager: £50,000 to £80,000 UK. Senior Project Manager: £65,000 to £100,000. Programme Manager: £80,000 to £130,000. Project Director: £90,000 to £150,000. PMO Manager: £60,000 to £95,000.
