# XAIG: Xcademia AI Governance Practitioner

> The XAIG Certification Programme is the practitioner standard for AI governance professionals who implement AI management systems, assess AI risk across EU AI Act risk tiers, govern responsible AI deployment, and produce the documentation that regulators, auditors, and procurement teams require. Assessed on Day 5 through a supervised AI governance framework design and AI risk assessment scenario. No MCQs. Completely uncontested in UK instructor-led format.

## Overview

The EU AI Act 2024 is the most significant regulatory development in artificial intelligence globally. High-risk AI systems require conformity assessments, risk management systems, and ongoing monitoring. General purpose AI models carry transparency obligations. Prohibited AI practices carry fines of up to 7% of global annual revenue. Almost no organisation is ready. Almost no training provider offers a practical instructor-led programme that teaches professionals how to govern AI systems against this regulatory reality. XAIG fills that gap entirely.

Across five instructor-led days, participants build AI governance capability across the complete governance lifecycle: EU AI Act risk tier classification and legal obligations, ISO 42001 AI Management System implementation across all clauses, NIST AI RMF application across all four functions, AI risk assessment methodology, AI supply chain and third-party governance, AI transparency documentation, human oversight architecture, AI incident response, and regulatory audit preparation. Every session uses real AI system case studies from healthcare, financial services, hiring, and law enforcement contexts.

On Day 5, participants design an AI governance framework for a simulated enterprise operating multiple AI systems across risk tiers, including at least one high-risk AI system under the EU AI Act. A senior practitioner assesses framework design, risk assessment quality, and regulatory documentation. XAIG certificate and Practitioner Assessment Report issued together. Aligned with EU AI Act 2024, ISO 42001:2023, NIST AI RMF 1.0, OECD AI Principles, and UK AI Safety Institute frameworks.

## Frequently asked questions

**Why is XAIG largely uncontested in the UK market?**

No UK training provider currently offers an instructor-led, practitioner-assessed AI governance programme covering EU AI Act, ISO 42001, and NIST AI RMF at implementation depth. What exists is either a 1 to 2 day awareness programme, an MCQ exam (CompTIA SecAI+), or generic AI ethics training. XAIG is the first programme that builds the capability to implement AI governance, not just describe it.

**Is XAIG relevant if my organisation is not in the EU?**

Yes. The EU AI Act has extraterritorial reach: it applies to any AI system placed on the EU market or whose output is used in the EU, regardless of where the developer or deployer is based. UK organisations operating in European markets are directly affected. ISO 42001 and NIST AI RMF are global frameworks increasingly referenced in non-EU markets.

**Does XAIG cover GPAI models such as GPT-4 class systems?**

Yes. Day 2 covers GPAI model obligations under EU AI Act Articles 51 to 56: transparency requirements, copyright training data summary obligations, technical documentation for GPAI models, and systemic risk obligations for the most capable GPAI models. AI deployer obligations under Article 25 are also covered in depth.

**How does XAIG align to the DPO role?**

Data Protection Officers increasingly encounter AI systems processing personal data. AI DPIA obligations under GDPR Article 35 align with Article 9 AI Act requirements. The FRIA (Fundamental Rights Impact Assessment) complements DPIA methodology. Day 2 explicitly covers the DPO role in AI governance and the GDPR and EU AI Act obligation intersection.

**What career paths does XAIG support?**

AI Governance Manager: £65,000 to £100,000 UK. Head of Responsible AI: £80,000 to £140,000. Chief AI Officer: £120,000 to £200,000 plus. Compliance Manager specialising in AI: £60,000 to £95,000. EU AI Act compliance is mandatory from 2025 to 2027 depending on system category, with demand for qualified practitioners far exceeding supply.
